Josefina Guilisasti
(Santiago, Chile, 1963)

Between 1981 and 1985 she studied a Bachelor of Arts with a mention in Painting at the University of Chile. Later, between 1990 and 1992, she studied stage painting at the Scala di Milano in Italy. In 1997 she was a student in the studio of the artist Eugenio Dittborn and in 2012 of the Master in History of the Adolfo Ibáñez University.

Her work has been exhibited in Santiago and other cities in the world such as London, New York, Austin, Porto Alegre, Pontevedra, Shanghai and Rome. In it she has developed, from a contemporary perspective, an exhaustive investigation on the genre of still life. Through the use of different media such as installations, photographs, video and mainly painting, the artist reflects on the anthropological, historical, cultural, aesthetic and socio-economic dimensions that are involved in the representation of different objects and artifacts such as jugs, pots, porcelain birds, Persian rugs and diaguita vessels, among others.

Also to her artistic work, between 2005 and 2010 he was part of Incubo, an interdisciplinary project around the visual arts that organized curatorial residencies and cultural exchanges with other institutions in the country.

Guilisasti resides and works in Santiago, Chile.
